Henrick Botha is the founder and product lead of Business Made Safe Holdings (Pty) Ltd, the Cape Town company behind MySafetyFile and SHEQ24. He built both platforms from the ground up and remains the primary developer and product owner on both.
His work in the SHEQ compliance space grew out of a straightforward observation: the process that small South African contractors go through to get a legally compliant safety file was — and largely still is — slow, expensive, and unreliable. Consultants charging R3,500 to R15,000 per file. Turnaround times of five to ten working days. Generic templates that didn't reflect the actual scope of work. He built MySafetyFile to solve all three problems at once: eight minutes, R500, with document selection driven by the actual project scope rather than a copy-paste template.
His knowledge of South African OHS legislation — the OHS Act 85 of 1993, the Construction Regulations 2014, POPIA — comes from years of building systems that have to comply with it in practice, not in theory. The rules engine that powers MySafetyFile maps every document to its specific regulatory basis. That mapping is what makes the output hold up when a Department of Labour inspector arrives on site.
SHEQ24, the second platform, handles the broader SHEQ compliance lifecycle — incident reporting, legal registers, audits, and contractor management. Together the two platforms cover the full compliance picture for South African businesses operating under the OHS Act.
